  • Realtor Safety: Personal safety on the job, including working in the office, at open houses and property showing, client meetings and traveling to appointments, should be a constant priority for evcery Realtor. Take time to review the Safety Tips provided from the Illinois Association of Realtors.
    1. Carry a whistle, mace or shriek alarm.
    2. Always meet first-time clients in your office.
    3. Park in well-lit areas.
    4. Use the buddy system when showing a property, especially vacant property.
    5. Leave word with someone at the office of where and with whom your appointments will be.
    6. When receiving an inquiry by phone, get the name and number of the person calling and ask if you can call that person back in a few minutes to confirm the inquiry.
    7. By making a couple of phone calls or checking the city directory or phone book, you may feel more comfortable about meeting a prospect.
